Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they start the process of hiring a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham player is out of work meaning Wolves would not need to pay any compensation.
