Followers Demand Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are calling for that a person who leaped a fence and touched the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral video depicts the Australian man pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the actors walked down a promenade flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile contains clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Fans Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented a further response on Instagram.
A number of attendees also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it started.
The film, to be released on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part version of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely friendship between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten award recognitions, securing two for outstanding attire and set decoration.
