Accused Stalker Questioned: 'However What If I Could Be Madeleine?'
A female indicted with harassing Kate McCann apparently deposited her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has repeatedly claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the tribunal heard communication data and data obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test over that period.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and is still unsolved.
'I Don't Want Money'
A separate voicemail, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I believe."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "What if there is a small chance that I'm her? What happens next? Isn't that crucial for you?"
"I do not need money, I possess a living here in Poland, I only wish to discover," she added.
The panel was told that via electronic messages, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who gathered the data, told the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, as per the call data.
On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."
That day Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my claim."
The court learned the co-defendant established a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in December 2024.
Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had communicated through messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the months before the appearance to that location, the county, in last December.
The court learned communications between the two accused, in that autumn, planning trying to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her garbage or from silverware at a dining venue.
